First Millsboro Provides Hope to Homeless Veterans

At First Millsboro Church, part of our mission is to be a "Beacon of Light" that G.L.O.W.S. throughout our community, spreading love and support to those in need. This beacon of light extends beyond the walls of our church and into the workplace of one of our devoted members, Karin Harmon. Karin, a member of our church family, has been a dedicated employee at Community Title Network/Ridgway Law Group LLC for seven years, with over 20 years of experience in the legal industry. Her passion for service and commitment to helping others has been a driving force in our church’s outreach efforts.

This year, First Millsboro Church partnered with Karin and Community Title Network/Ridgway Law Group to participate in a Community Giveback Project for the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans. The company, which specializes in commercial and residential real estate transactions across Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Ohio, operates 22 offices in five states. Together, we joined forces for a cause that speaks directly to our mission of serving those in need.

The 2024 Community Giveback Week kicked off on October 1st, and Karin enlisted the support of family, friends, and our church community to contribute to this noble cause. Through their efforts, First Millsboro Church was able to donate 15 coats and toiletries to the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans.

As we reflect on this powerful collaboration, it’s heartening to share that during the 2024 year-end review, presented at the Manager’s Meeting on January 8, 2025, the final tally of donations was revealed: over 200 coats and more than 100 toiletries were collected and distributed to various veterans’ shelters and programs, providing warmth and support to those who have served our country.

Throughout the year, Community Title Network/Ridgway Law Group continues to support the mission of First Millsboro Church, contributing donations for various church projects and helping us reach our goals. This partnership exemplifies the spirit of collaboration, compassion, and community service, which aligns with the words of Matthew 22:39: "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

In shining our Beacon of Light, we are reminded that our mission extends beyond our church and into the hearts and lives of those we encounter. Together, we make a difference, showing love in action, just as Christ has called us to do.
