First Millsboro Church Launches New Back-to-School Partnerships

The Community Services Ministry, led by Karen Hamlin, and the Education Ministry, headed by DeVon Edwards, recently collaborated on an exciting new outreach project for this year's Back-to-School initiative. This effort focused on two new community partnerships: the Sussex County Boys and Girls Club in Long Neck (Millsboro), Delaware, and the Edward W. Pyle State Service Center, Division of Foster Care, located in Roxana, Delaware.

Both organizations provided a list of items needed to better serve the young people in their programs. First Millsboro SDA Church members, along with Ridgway Law Group, LLC—offices in Bethany Beach, Selbyville, and Middletown, Delaware—stepped up to donate well beyond the requested items.

DeVon Edwards, representing the Education Ministry, personally delivered the donated supplies to the Sussex County Boys and Girls Club and the Edward W. Pyle State Service Center. His dedication to education was further recognized when he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by both the church and Ridgway Law Group, LLC. The certificate honored him as a "Beacon of Light" to his students and acknowledged his contributions as a seasonal employee preparing for the upcoming school year.

This Back-to-School initiative exemplifies the church's commitment to community outreach and service, ensuring that students in these programs start the year with the supplies and support they need. A special thanks to Karen Hamlin and DeVon Edwards for their spirit-led efforts in expanding this important ministry.
