On November 2, 2024, First Millsboro Church celebrated a historic milestone by ordaining 8 Deaconesses and one Elder. This marked the church's first-ever Deaconess ordination.

The service included a joint ordination with New Life Church of Salisbury, MD, honoring Elsie Deneal (pictured in the blazer) as a Deaconess. First Millsboro SDA Church ordained Alvanna Dennis, Jeannette Hall, Karin Harmon, Sixta Lopez, Diane Jones, Shirley Street, and Marlene Harmon as Deaconesses. Additionally, James Trower, Jr. was ordained as an Elder.

Pastor David Thorpe, Jr., who leads both First Millsboro and New Life Churches, facilitated the ceremony alongside church leaders Elder James Hamlin, Elder Noel Bowman, Elder Anthony Deneal, and Elder Maurice Parker from Seaford SDA Church. Sister Karen Hamlin delivered a special charge to the newly ordained Deaconesses.

This sacred event underscored the churches’ commitment to spiritual leadership and service, marking a memorable moment in their shared history.
