AEC Kicks Off 80th Anniversary of Allegheny Conference

On Saturday, February 15th, AEC kicked off the yearlong celebration of the 80th year of its mother conference, Allegheny at the Emmanuel-Brinklow Church in Ashton, Maryland. .

Dr. Trevor Kinlock, AEC president, moderated a 3-part discussion entitled, “Allegheny at Eighty: Advancing Our Legacy: A Discussion about the Past, Present, and Future.” Panelists included Dr. Benjamin Baker, Dr. Douglas Morgan, Dr. Carol Wallington, Dr. Marcus Harris, Dr. Colby Matlock, and Pastor Claudia Allen. The program also featured musical presentations from our George E. Peters School Choir, and a video presentation from Pine Forge Academy. An offering was also collected for our AEC schools.

Following the discussion, a light reception featuring cupcakes and Martinelli’s and was held. Attendees were invited to view a historical art display in Wills Chapel while the melodious sounds of Baltimore Junior Academy’s string ensemble filled the room. Guests learned more about Allegheny’s early years and the growth of Allegheny East over the years.

Attendees received a limited-edition commemorative lapel pin upon arrival.

There will be more 80th celebration events throughout the year.
