President Kinlock celebrates Black History at Shiloh Petersburg

Dr. Kinlock kicked off Black History month worshipping with the Shiloh Petersburg SDA family. For almost 90 years the Shiloh SDA church has shared the Adventist ministry and message to members of the Petersburg, VA community and beyond. Expounding on the history of the Black church in his sermon, Dr. Kinlock explained how Black churches have always been inclusive spaces welcoming everyone, but have historically been excluded from the mainstream of society. Nonetheless, Black churches continue ministering to the least of these--and Shiloh church moves within this same tradition. The members at Shiloh held an all day celebration of worship, preaching, and musical praise, followed by a soul food inspired Sabbath lunch. Following lunch, members hosted an afternoon program on the history of the African drum. Senior Pastor Keenan Tyler and church leaders have planned a full month of celebrations. Pastor Tyler stated, "today was a great kickoff to Black history month"!
President Kinlock Visits Columbia Community Center

Dr. Kinlock recently joined the Columbia Community Center SDA church for a special time of listening and prayer. Congregants openly shared their heartful feedback on the needs and future of the church. Dr. Kinlock heard from both young and seasoned members alike as even several children dutifully participated in this Q & A session with their conference president. The time together concluded with a period of prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to direct and bless the congregation. Church leaders prayed for their president and conference leaders. Joined by ministerial director, Dr. Gene Donaldson, and area leader, Dr. Marcus Harris, Dr. Kinlock reflected, "It was an important space for me to be as the members needed to share their heart with me. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to listen, reflective on what I heard, and encouraged about God's future for this special church family". The CCC church has been ministering through community services and other impactful programs to the Howard County region for over 30 years, to God be the glory!
