Salisbury Church Highlights Mental Health

Our New Life Church in Salisbury, MD was blessed to conduct their first annual “Let’s Talk About Mental Health…A “No Judgement” Zone! Although May was Mental Health Awareness Month, mental health is something that will affect many of us year round. The goal of the seminar was to educate the congregation and community on mental health, spirituality, overcoming stigmas that plague our society, especially in the black church and community.  They invited professionals from as far as Philadelphia to local resources in Wicomico and Somerset County in Maryland, including Dr. Kimberly Arnold of University of Pennsylvania. Also, on the panel were local professionals Meg Cohen, LCPC (Life Crisis Center) and Tineka Harmon, LMSW (Evolve Mental Wellness).

The program was led by their Health Ministries under the leadership of Dr. Aaron Ates and team members. Dr. Victoria Edwards, Sis. Tajuana Steele and Elder Will Smith. A special thanks to Sis. Janai-Chaunda.  You can the program on their YouTube Channel
