First Millsboro Celebrates Two Significant Milestones

This past Sabbath, First Millsboro Church proudly celebrated two major milestones, marking significant advancements in their community outreach and youth engagement efforts.

The first of these milestones was represented by James and Karen Hamlin, who attended a special session at Legislative Hall in Dover, DE on behalf of the Church's Daily Manna Food Pantry. The Hamlins were photographed with Cathy Kanefsky, President and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware. This event took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, and highlighted the crucial role of food banks and pantries across Delaware.

The Delaware General Assembly, consisting of 21 senators in the Senate and 41 representatives in the House, extended a special invitation to all Food Banks for this occasion. During this session, Senate Concurrent Resolution 170 was introduced, with Senator Wilson as the primary sponsor, and additional sponsorship from Representatives Osienski, Romer, Dorsey Walker, and Bolden. The resolution, passed in the House by voice vote, commends the Food Bank of Delaware and its network of program partners for their invaluable contributions toward ending hunger and addressing the root causes of poverty in the state.

The second milestone for First Millsboro was the grand opening of their newly renovated Youth Room on May 25, 2024. This project was spearheaded by the Church Family Life Ministry, with the help of dedicated volunteers, transforming the space into a welcoming and vibrant classroom for the church's future leaders. The Youth Room now stands as a testament to the church's commitment to nurturing and supporting the next generation.

First Millsboro Church is immensely grateful for these blessings and views these milestones as steps towards their goal of becoming a beacon of light in their community. As they continue to grow and serve, they remain dedicated to their mission of outreach, support, and spiritual development.
