Celebrating a Milestone in Ministry: Honoring the 90 Plus Club at New Life SDA Church

On Sabbath, September 21st, the 50 Plus Association of New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salisbury, Maryland, hosted a special service honoring five esteemed members of their congregation, all aged 90 and above. The celebration, entitled "A Milestone in Ministry," paid tribute to these beloved individuals for their years of dedication and service to their families, church, and community.

The honored members of the “90 Plus Club”were:

- Sis. Beryl Johnson (90)

- Sis. Anna-Mae Murray (92)

- Sis. Billie Blake (93)

- Sis. Minnie Smith (97)

- Bro. Chester Holland (98)

Dressed in gold, the members of the 50 Plus Association stood in unity, while the five nonagenarians were distinguished with elegant purple and silver corsages.

The day began with an insightful and engaging Sabbath school session, which set the tone for an uplifting 11 o’clock service, filled with praise and worship to God. Family members of the honorees took turns sharing heartfelt tributes, recounting memorable moments and the lasting impact of their loved ones. Through these reflections, the congregation heard pearls of wisdom and testimonies of faith passed down through the years.

As a tribute to each honoree, their favorite songs or hymns were sung, with some performed by soloists and others joined by the entire congregation. The music created a heartfelt atmosphere, embodying the legacy and faith of those being celebrated.

Pastor David J. Thorpe delivered a moving homily, emphasizing the grace of God through Jesus Christ that enabled these cherished individuals to lead long, fruitful lives. His message highlighted how their lives of service and faith serve as a testament to God’s blessings on those who submit to His will, follow His commandments, and have the faith of Jesus.

The celebration concluded with a catered fellowship dinner, where the 40 and under members of the church lovingly served the meal, bringing the church family together to honor these pillars of faith.

This milestone event was not just a celebration of longevity, but also a recognition of a life lived in ministry, service, and devotion to God—a true witness to His faithfulness.
