A Vision for Growth: Haitian Ministerium Meets with Dr. Kinlock

On November 25, 2024, the Haitian Ministerium convened with Dr. Kinlock, the newly appointed President of the Allegheny East Conference. This meeting marked the first official gathering with the Haitian Ministerium under his leadership, and it was a truly memorable and inspiring occasion. The atmosphere was charged with the spirit of unity, as the conversation flowed with enthusiasm, openness, and constructive dialogue.

Each pastor in attendance had the opportunity to introduce themselves and share insights about their respective congregations, highlighting both achievements and challenges. A common thread that emerged was the strong commitment to fostering spiritual growth among the children, youth, and young adults in their churches. With the continued support of the Haitian Youth Federation, Haitian congregations are witnessing a remarkable resurgence in youth engagement, creating vibrant spaces where young people can thrive in their faith.

However, with this positive momentum comes a significant challenge: the influx of newly arrived immigrants. This surge in numbers has been both a blessing and a challenge, as the churches strive to meet the growing needs of these individuals and families. The demand for social services, resources, and support for their settlement process has placed a considerable strain on church resources. Nevertheless, the pastors and their congregations are rising to the occasion, determined to serve and support the newcomers with the love and compassion that define their mission.

Dr. Kinlock took the opportunity to share his priorities for Allegheny East Conference. His focus areas include evangelism, children's ministry, youth and young adult engagement, and Christian education. The president articulated a clear and inspiring vision for each of these areas, igniting a renewed sense of passion and purpose within everyone in the room. His words were both motivating and challenging, encouraging the Haitian Ministerium to stay focused on their collective mission while embracing new opportunities for growth and impact.

In addition to Dr. Kinlock’s address, Dr. Duvivier, the Haitian Ministerium Coordinator, presented a report on the state of the Haitian Churches within the Allegheny East Conference. His presentation offered a look at the current landscape of the Haitian Ministerium, featuring church growth, community outreach, and engagement strategies. He highlighted the impressive increase in financial contributions and membership over the past few years.

The Haitian Ministerium left the meeting with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Dr. Kinlock's leadership and clear vision have energized the group, and they are now more determined than ever to achieve the goals set forth. The meeting was filled with heartfelt prayer, laughter, and a profound sense of fellowship. The bonds of community were strengthened, and there was a shared understanding that the future is indeed bright for the Haitian Ministry under the guidance of their new president.

With the support of Dr. Kinlock and the commitment of each pastor and congregation, the Haitian Ministerium is poised for even greater impact in the years to come.
